Adam Period Mahogany Sideboard
- A fine quality small sideboard in the style of Robert Adam, the Scottish neoclassical designer. Besides its overall quality, one of the interesting features of this piece is that the lower drawers on either side, the ones that appear to be two drawers but are actually just one, were originally wine coolers. There is evidence of a drain hole in the bottom of each drawer where original metal liners could have been drained. The cast brass lion mask drawer pulls are period and appropriate, but are not the original. One of the finest Adam designed rooms in existence is here in America at the Metropolitan Museum
