Description POST DRILLED ANCHOR FOR FALL ARREST, WORK RESTRAINT & WORK POSITIONING SYSTEMS. Post-installed anchors are anchor bolts that are installed after the concrete base has been set. A hole is drilled into the concrete and the anchor is then installed into the hole. There are two main types of post-installed anchors: mechanical expansion anchors (MEA) and adhesive anchors. Mechanical expansion anchors (MEA) are first placed into the pre-drilled hole. They then expand, bearing against the concrete surface. Wedge anchors are a common type of MEA. MEAs are easy to install, however they have a relatively low tensile strength and are not recommended for use in tension zones where concrete is likely to crack. This is a Non-Reusable Expansion Anchor thread which is used to fix the Post Drilled Reusable Connector (Product code SSAN009 ) utilised to provide an anchorage point for single-user Lanyards or Fall Arrestors, or in pairs to form end anchor points at the end of Running-Lines ( Temporary Horizontal Lifelines ) when used for in a temporary work restraint system. This fixing is inserted into a 12mm diameter drilled hole and when secured holds the Post-Drilled Reusable Connector (SSAN009) INSTRUCTIONS We strongly advise that any anchor relying on friction should be load-tested pre-use. Drill a 12mm diameter hole to depth of 95mm in concrete with minimum strength of 50 Mpa. Thread the Expansion Bolt through the Connection Hanger and insert into the drilled hole. Tighten to a torque strength of 30Nm. TYPICAL APPLICATIONS Non-Reusable Threads for Post -Drilled Anchors are used with POST DRILLED REUSABLE CONNECTOR – FALL ARREST ANCHOR ANCHOR LOAD TESTING When a personal fall protection system is relying on the friction of an expansion thread, a load test should be undertaken to ensure that the anchor can withstand a 6kN load.
